活躍於六〇年代晚期至七〇年代初期的三狗之夜(Three Dog Night)，是一支1967年成立於美國加州紅極一時的搖滾樂團，除了Danny Hutton、Chuck Negron、Cory Wells(1941-2015)三位男主唱之外，還包括吉他手Mike Allsup、鍵盤手Jimmy Greenspoon(1948-2015)、貝斯手Joe Schermie(1946-2006)及鼓手Floyd Sneed。
"Joy to the World"由Chuck Negron擔任主唱，蓄鬍削瘦的Chuck Negron唱歌爆發力強，不論搖滾或抒情慢歌皆為我喜。本曲為該團第二支冠軍曲，1971年4月登上美國告示牌流行榜首，蟬聯六週後才被英國團Rolling Stones的"Brown Sugar"擠下第二名。
"Joy to the World"當時實在太有名了，筆者是聽自台灣唱片公司發行的黑膠合輯，本曲也出現在1983年"大寒"(The Big Chill)電影插曲。
